My name is Wayne Phelps. I'm a professional magician, and this is expertvillage.com. I'm going to teach you a very basic coin manipulation trick called a French drop. This is how we vanish a coin. For this you need to borrow a coin from somebody or you can use one of your own. Hold it in your hand, come in, take it off from the other hand and then break the coin, crumble the coin until it vanishes. This is how it works. The coin never leaves your left hand. You hold it in the tips of your fingers and your thumbs just like this. Your right hand, your thumb extended slides in behind the coin. As you wrap your fingers around, you do something very sneaky. You actually drop the coin to a finger palm position. The right hand begins to pull away pretending it has the coin. The left hand turns palm down and just drops to the side and swings gently, very naturally. Your right hand acts like it has the coin. You lift it up into the air and you just follow your eyes with your hand. As long as you're looking at this hand the spectators will never look at the hand down here at the side of the real coin. When your hand is up here in the air all you need to do now is just sneak a little crumbling motion and boom. The coin is vanished. That is a French drop.
