Hi. My name is Dave Andrews. Today, I'm going to show you how to speed up your PC. Let's go to the computer. And the first thing that I'm going to do is right click on my desktop and go to "Properties". Now select "Appearance". Under "Windows and Buttons", let's select "Windows Classic Style" and say apply. This turns off many of the Windows XP effects that are turned on by default and will make your windows load and run a whole lot faster, because it's not draining the CPU as much as it would have before. What it's doing here is reloading the video subsystem that's going to display the windows. Once it's done, our windows will come up and look a whole lot different, and have this gray and a little bit more boxier. As you can see, we've turned on the Windows Classic View, which changed the way our start bar looks, as well as any windows that we have open. Let's say "OK". Next, we want to turn off programs that run as we log in. Go to "Start" and "Run". Type "msconfig" and press "OK". Select the "Startup" tab. And here's a list of programs that run as you log in. They remain running in the background and can slow down your PC. Let's just uncheck all of these and say "Apply". These programs will no longer run when we log in. It's that easy to speed up your PC.
